(R)EVOLVING WHORL(D)

(R)EVOLVING WHORL(D) deconstructs our understanding of the classic Coast Salish spindle whorl. The exhibition connects the traditional craft designs with current interpretations, beginning a discourse into cultural history and evolution. Where does Coast Salish contemporary art go from here? In what ways can the classic icon be reinterpreted, re-imagined, yet still hold its essential symbology.

The exhibition features Coast Salish artists lessLIE, Dylan Thomas, and Chris Paul, each drawing on their own expertise and experimenting with new mediums. The spindle whorl design is (re)presented as paintings, prints, wooden panels, metal and glass works.
